The whisk is the ritual. A hundred fine prongs, hand-carved from a single piece of bamboo, move air through the matcha until a smooth foam settles on top — something no metal whisk or frother does quietly.
Green-tipped prongs on a natural bamboo body, carved to draw a real foam from the first bowl.

How to use
- Soak the prongs in warm water for a minute before first use to soften them.
- Whisk briskly in a "W" motion, from the wrist rather than the arm.
- Ease off as the foam builds, lifting to the surface to refine it.
Materials & care
Rinse warm after each bowl — never soap — and let it dry on its holder so the curve keeps its shape. With daily use, a chasen is a companion for a season, not a lifetime: expect to replace it every three to six months, the way it's been done for centuries.
