Kumora Matcha Ritual Set — 7 Piece

Making matcha at home should be simple. Most starter kits make it harder than it needs to be — too many parts, none of them nice to hold, and a bowl you can't pour from.

The seven-piece is the whole ritual, laid out and ready. Bowl, holder, whisk, scoop and sifter — plus the two things that turn a set into a station: a porcelain rest, so the scoop never touches the counter, and a printed mat, so the ritual has somewhere to happen.

What's in the box

• Matcha bowl with a pouring spout — 13.3 × 14.7 × 7 cm · 550 ml · 436 g
  Wide and shallow, the way a chawan should be, so the whisk has room to work. The spout means you pour, instead of tipping and hoping.
• Whisk holder — 6.3 × 7.2 cm · 110 g
  The whisk dries on it, tines down, and keeps its shape. This is the piece that makes a chasen last.
• Bamboo whisk (chasen) — 6.2 × 11.4 cm · 60 g

The ritual

Sift. Scoop. Add water just off the boil. Whisk in a quick W until the foam is fine and even. Pour through the spout.

Four steps. No machine, no rush, no guesswork.

Care

Rinse the whisk in warm water and dry it on the holder, tines down. Hand-wash the ceramics. Wipe the mat.

A note on the glaze

Japanese-inspired ceramics and bamboo. The glaze is speckled and varies from piece to piece — colour, fleck and depth shift slightly across every bowl. That's the glaze, not a flaw.
